Open banking allows you to link your bank account to your Zing account to make top-ups faster and easier. When you set up a linked account, you can add money to your Zing GBP wallet in one tap.
Setting up a linked account through Open Banking Variable Recurring Payments (VRP) also allows you to create automatic top-ups. If the total amount in your Zing account falls below your defined threshold we will automatically top-up by the fixed amount you choose.
How do I link my bank account to Zing?
- In the ‘Add money’ flow, tap ‘Quick bank transfer’ and select your bank
- Follow the steps to link your account and set up top-up limits
- Select your single top-up amount and monthly limit as part of your mandate
- We’ll redirect you to your chosen bank to authorise the account linking
- After authorisation is granted you will be sent back to the Zing app
- Your account is now linked and you can make your top-up!
You can edit your top-up limits at any time in the side menu.
The mandate for your linked bank account will be in effect until you cancel it in Zing or directly with your bank. Mandates will allow use of overdrafts if available.
How do I set up automatic top-ups?
You can set up automatic top-ups once you’ve linked your bank account through open banking. This means that if the total amount in your Zing account falls below your defined threshold, we will automatically top-up by the fixed amount you choose.
After your first open banking linked account top-up, you’ll see a screen in the app prompting you to set up automatic top-ups:
- Tap ‘Let’s set this up’ on the screen to start the process
- Choose your thresholds for your automatic top-up amount and the balance amount your GBP wallet has to fall below to trigger this top up. For example: If balance falls below 50 GBP add 100 GBP.
- Tap ‘Confirm’
Automatic top-ups will usually arrive in seconds but can take up to 2 hours. You can cancel automatic top-ups at any time, the cancellation is immediate.

- Tap on linked accounts
- A list of your linked accounts will appear (you can also link another account from here)
- Tap on the account you have setup auto top-ups with
- The linked account details page will appear
